Let Food Be Your Medicine

Let Food Be Your Medicine

A growing movement, food-as-medicine is helping shift the way we view our health. “In America, over 50% of our food is processed food and only 5% of our food is plant-based food.” and “cumulative data paints a clear picture, the salt, sugar, fat and processed foods often found in the American diet contribute to the nation’s high rates of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.”. These startling stats are courtesy of a recent NPR article titled ‘Food As Medicine: It’s Not Just A Fringe Idea Anymore’. We highly suggest taking a moment to read it, digest the information, and then hit the order button on our month long Whole30 February meal delivery #winkwink.

Never Give Up

Never Give Up

We’ve heard rumblings that cedar is once again gracing us with it’s presence and that there’s a bit of a bug going around. To us that means it’s more important than ever to provide you with food that is going to clean up your system, making you feel GOOD from the inside out so your body is ready to fight whatever irritant comes at it.

Would you like a side of wellness with that?

Would you like a side of wellness with that?

How many times have you been asked what your NYE resolution is? And how many emails have you received about goals so far this this month? (Yes, we’re guilty of sending you one). We can only speak for ourselves but we send it because we can relate and because we care. We love the holidays too and we don’t want to want to sacrifice Grandma’s shortbread because we’re afraid it will make a nice, new home on our hips. What we’re best at is knowing how to bounce back quickly by nourishing our bodies so we can eat the shortbread and then get ourselves right back to feeling GOOD once Grammy’s baking is all gone.

What sounds better, a sustainable lifestyle or continuous dieting? We’d put our money on the former. So, why are we asking? Because we want you to have a strong connection with your body, to know what it feels like to wake up every morning with more energy and less yucky. (Yes, we just said yucky.) Figuring out how you react to different types of food is important. Consider this, some of us are allergic to dogs, some aren’t. Some of us swell up at the sight of salt, some don’t. Some of us have minor hangovers after New Years Eve… and we’re just jealous. Your body reacts differently to food than your best friend’s does. Eliminating some of the common triggers and filling your body with delicious, nutritious whole foods can only do a body good, right?
